A Razorpay integration for OTT platform lets a streaming service bill viewers in India through Razorpay checkout, using the payment methods Razorpay offers in that region. Flicknexs creates, fetches, updates and cancels Razorpay subscriptions for recurring plans and creates one-time Razorpay orders for pay-per-view, with the money settling in the operator's own Razorpay account.
Flicknexs provides razorpay integration as part of its white-label OTT platform. Flicknexs runs recurring plans and single-title purchases through the operator's own Razorpay account, so an Indian audience pays with the methods Razorpay offers and access is granted inside the streaming service.
Why Razorpay matters for a streaming service in India
An operator building for viewers in India needs a gateway that presents the payment methods those viewers actually use and settles in rupees to an Indian bank account. Razorpay is that gateway for many Indian businesses, and its checkout shows the methods Razorpay offers in your region, such as UPI and cards, according to Razorpay's documentation. What the operator then needs from the streaming platform is a correct set of Razorpay calls: a subscription that renews, an order for a one-off purchase, and a clean way to change or stop a subscription without leaving a viewer charged for a plan they no longer hold.
Flicknexs implements the four operations that matter for a recurring plan on Razorpay: create the subscription when the viewer signs up, fetch it to read its current status, update it when the viewer moves to another plan, and cancel it when the viewer or the operator ends it. For a single film or a live event, the platform creates a Razorpay order for the amount set on the title and records the purchase once the order is paid. Nothing about the card or the UPI handle is stored on the platform; those stay with Razorpay.
The third reason is that recurring payments in India carry their own rules. Mandates, authentication on the first charge and notification before a debit are all handled by Razorpay on its side, and the Razorpay Subscriptions documentation and the Razorpay Payments documentation describe how those mandates behave for each method. Flicknexs does not reimplement any of that. It creates the subscription and lets Razorpay run the mandate, then reads the subscription status back from Razorpay when the platform needs to know whether the viewer is still paid up.
What the Razorpay integration does on Flicknexs
Each row is a call the Flicknexs payment service makes to Razorpay on the date checked, in Razorpay's own terms.
Create subscription
A recurring plan chosen by a viewer becomes a Razorpay subscription with the plan's price and interval.
Fetch subscription
The platform reads the subscription back from Razorpay to learn its current status when it needs it.
Update subscription
A viewer moving to a different plan triggers an update of the existing Razorpay subscription.
Cancel subscription
Ending a plan from the viewer side or the admin calls Razorpay to cancel the subscription.
One-time orders
A pay-per-view title or a ticketed live event becomes a Razorpay order for the title price.
Regional methods
Razorpay checkout presents the methods Razorpay offers in your region, such as UPI and cards, per Razorpay's documentation.
Own account settlement
Key ID and key secret from your Razorpay account are stored in the admin; funds settle to your account.
Revenue reports
Razorpay subscriptions and one-time orders appear in the monthly subscription and pay-per-view revenue reports.

How Razorpay recurring billing works on Flicknexs
Recurring billing on Razorpay is a sequence of calls, not a single checkout. This is the sequence the platform runs and where each record ends up.
Keys in the admin, checkout on Razorpay
Sign-up creates a Razorpay subscription
Status is fetched, not assumed
Plan change updates the same subscription
Cancellation goes to Razorpay first
One-time purchases are Razorpay orders
Setup for Razorpay in the Flicknexs admin, step by step
Do these in order. You can complete steps one to four with Razorpay test keys; step five is the switch to live.
- 1
Generate keys in the Razorpay dashboard
Sign in to your Razorpay account and generate a key ID and key secret. Razorpay issues separate test and live keys, so start with test keys. Complete Razorpay's own activation and KYC on your business before you expect live settlements; that process belongs to Razorpay and the platform cannot shorten it.
- 2
Enter the keys in payment gateway settings
In the Flicknexs admin, open payment gateways, select Razorpay, paste the key ID and key secret and enable the gateway. Save. Razorpay now appears as a choice on the viewer checkout page next to any other gateway you have enabled. The payment gateways page describes how several gateways sit together on one checkout.
- 3
Price your plans and titles in rupees
Create your recurring plans with a name, price, interval and currency, and set per-title prices, rental windows and free-preview minutes for pay-per-view content. Which currencies your Razorpay account can accept is defined by Razorpay for your account, so match the plan currency to what Razorpay has enabled for you before you publish.
- 4
Test a subscription and a single purchase
As a viewer, sign up for a plan through Razorpay checkout using Razorpay's test credentials, then buy a single title. Confirm the subscription appears in the admin and in the Razorpay dashboard, that playback opens, and that the revenue report shows both. Then cancel the test subscription from the viewer account and confirm Razorpay shows it canceled.
- 5
Switch to live keys and take one real payment
Replace the test keys with live keys, save, and make one small real purchase of a low-priced title from a personal account. Check that the payment lands in your Razorpay dashboard and that the purchase record appears in the admin. Only then announce the launch to viewers and turn on any marketing that points at the checkout.
Limits of the Razorpay integration, stated plainly
Know these before launch so the support desk is not surprised by the first ticket.
Payment methods are Razorpay's to decide
Coupons do not apply on Razorpay checkout
No free-trial days on a plan
Renewal problems surface when status is fetched
Not used inside the store-billed apps

Checklist before you open Razorpay to viewers
Run it as a viewer with test keys, then once more with live keys and a real low-value purchase.
- Razorpay activation is complete on your account so live settlements can reach your bank; the platform cannot start that process for you.
- The key ID and key secret in the admin match the mode you intend, test or live, and the gateway is switched on.
- Every recurring plan has a price, interval and currency that your Razorpay account can accept according to Razorpay's documentation.
- A test subscription creates a subscription in the Razorpay dashboard and shows the plan as active on the subscriber record in the admin.
- A test plan change updates the same Razorpay subscription and does not leave two subscriptions against one viewer.
- A test cancellation from the viewer account shows as canceled in Razorpay and ends the plan on the subscriber record.
- A test one-time order for a documentary records a pay-per-view purchase and opens playback for exactly the rental window set on the title.
- Your support desk knows that coupon codes do not apply on Razorpay checkout and has a discounted plan ready if a campaign needs one.
- Your team knows to check the Razorpay dashboard for halted mandates and failed renewals before adjusting access in the admin.
- Live keys are in place and one real low-value purchase has settled to your Razorpay account before the launch announcement.
